If you want to win your All-Region trumpet
audition, then you need something to give you the edge. The
All-Region Trumpet Boot Camp can do that for you. This four-day
program replaces the need to practice during the most crucial
week before the auditions. Instead of doing what you always do,
your daily practice time will be replaced by an intensive coaching
session that will focus your efforts to produce a lean, mean, highly
polished audition performance.

Boot Camp: 23, 24, 25 &

Won’t boot
camp be just like attending daily lessons?
No.
The boot camp session will place the emphasis on the proper use
of repetition and methodology. During lessons, the implementation of
practice techniques is abbreviated to ensure the session can
accommodate this and the other activities required during a lesson.
During the boot camp sessions, correct practice techniques will
be used in their full form: no short-cuts.
But what
if I already devote a lot of time to daily practice?
Surely I don’t need boot camp?
Boot camp isn’t
just about getting you in the best possible shape to win your
audition. There are
long-term benefits to attending boot camp.
During boot camp, the student will be trained in EXACTLY how
winners practice.
Many students
assume that spending a lot of time in practice, is time well-spent.
Unfortunately, experience has
shown that students who practice incorrectly are wasting time and are
required to spend vast amounts of time trying to fix what they
practiced incorrectly. By being coached and trained to practice
correctly, these students guarantee that future time investments in
practice are good investments.
Isn’t the
boot camp too close to the audition date to be of any help to me?
The timing of this boot camp is significant.
During the four hours of
intensive and highly focused coaching, it is possible to take a
student from level two (which would be an ideal starting point for the
serious student) to level four (the level of winners).
Many students work hard to
reach level two, but settle at this level and never develop any
further before the audition.
Boot camp is for someone who has reached level two, but is
ready to step up to level three or even level four.
The All-Region Trumpet Boot Camp is for those students who have
practiced to at least level two, and are now ready to have a personal
trainer coach them through level three and possibly even level four
(depending on their entry level at the start of the boot camp).
For those who are
unfamiliar with practice levels, they are listed below:
Level 1:
Learning the music This involves learning the notes and
rhythms - the basic mechanics of the music.
Level 2:
Connecting the sections This is done by repeating the music,
in its entirety, many times at a slow tempo - 75% tempo.
Level 3: Fixing the little problems This is the polishing
stage. For students who practice correctly, this is the most time
consuming stage as smaller problems are often the most difficult to
correct.
Level 4: Learning to express oneself through the
music At this stage, a student will no longer think of notes
and mechanics, but actually think more emotionally and expressively.
